And they will suggest
Tone down your love,
the language, that laughter.
They will scare you
with talks of repercussions, risks.
They will try to tame you
with 'calm downs' and 'don't overreacts'
They will make you uncomfortable
in your own skin
With blood boiling beneath.

And here's what you do when that happens.

You will see a pair of wings in flight
There's a reason your destiny is wing-shaped.
Fly.

Chandrama Deshmukh is a creative head by profession and a poet by passion. Moonlit Monochrome is her first collection of English poems. She has authored two books of Marathi poems. A storyteller of sorts, the moon is her muse. Poetry for Chandrama is that one streak of silver lining amidst the chaos of life. Being an avid reader, storyteller and playwright, she believes nothing touches her soul the way poetry does.
